Jerry McElroy worked for 35 years for Colorado’s largest integrated health care system that included an 800-member physician group.
The first seven were spent working as a physician assistant. The next twenty-eight of those years, Jerry was the government relations representative, then government relations director for the organization. During that time, he was also closely involved with many different organizations with interests in health care and business issues such as the Colorado Association of Health Plans, the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Colorado Competitive Council, Business Council for Healthcare Competition, and the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry. Jerry is an expert on healthcare issues in the state and especially skilled in strategy and coalition building. He graduated from the University of Alabama in 1975 with a degree of Physician Assistant in Medicine. He has lived in Denver for most of his life and enjoys spending free time on any sunny beach he can access.
Susan Cox has been working in the field of government relations for 24 years, with significant experience in the areas of state employee issues, oil and gas production and marketing, landowner rights, water quality and water rights, air quality, health care, economic development and senior services. Susan had a career for 8 1/2 years as the government relations representative for Kaiser Permanente in Colorado. Prior to that, Susan was the Associate Director, then Executive Director of the Colorado Petroleum Association before becoming the first Executive Director of the Colorado HMO Association. Before her work in field of public policy, Susan had a career for eight years in training and development with a focus on management skills and communication. She is a Denver native and a graduate of Colorado State University (GO RAMS!!) with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications. Susan has served on the university’s alumni board of directors for a total of 12 rewarding years and served as president of the board in 2002. Her favorite hobbies are cooking, gardening, driving the back roads of the Scottish Highlands and Islands, watching BBC’s “Top Gear” on telly, and attending CSU events...not necessarily in this order.
